About Dr. Smola

Dr. Smola is an Alabama native who completed his undergraduate training at Auburn University. After earning a bachelor’s degree in animal sciences and a master’s degree from Auburn, he attended Lincoln Memorial University, where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, graduating summa cum laude.

Following graduation, Dr. Smola completed a one-year rotating internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City, followed by a one-year surgical specialty internship at BluePearl Veterinary Partners – New York City. He then came to the Philadelphia area to complete a three-year small animal surgery residency at BluePearl Veterinary Partners – Levittown/Philadelphia. He became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons after completing his residency.

Dr. Smola has a special connection to Bucks County from his years training and living in the area and is excited to return to the community to build a surgical service and establish long-term relationships with local veterinarians and pet owners. After completing his residency, he practiced at private surgical specialty hospitals in Nashville and Northern Virginia before returning to Pennsylvania.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Smola enjoys traveling, exploring new restaurants, snow skiing, being on the water, and watching sports. He and his wife, Jacy, have a son, Oliver, who are easily the best parts of his life. Their family also includes Bagel, a grey tabby rescued in New York City; Cheesesteak, an orange tabby rescued in Philadelphia; and Fitzwater, an exceptionally lovable Golden Retriever.

Dr. Smola is thrilled to be back in the Philadelphia and Bucks County area and looks forward to calling the region home again.
