Board-certified in small animal internal medicine.
Dr. Fiamma De Witte is a board-certified specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine. She earned her veterinary degree with honors from the University of Liège in Belgium and completed advanced internship and residency training in both large- and small-animal internal medicine in the United States, across academic and private practice settings, ultimately achieving board certification in Small Animal Internal Medicine.
Before specializing, Dr. De Witte spent five years in general practice, giving her a broad clinical foundation and a firsthand understanding of the day-to-day challenges faced by primary care veterinarians. Since becoming a specialist, she has practiced in several large, multispecialty referral hospitals, experiences that have shaped her thoughtful, practical, and collaborative approach to specialty care. She has also helped develop and launch two de novo boutique-style Internal Medicine services in Manhattan.
Dr. De Witte remains actively engaged in advanced continuing education and national and international specialist-level lectures and conferences, staying closely connected to evolving knowledge, techniques, and standards of care in veterinary internal medicine.
Her clinical expertise encompasses the diagnosis and management of complex gastrointestinal, endocrine, immune-mediated, hepatic, renal, and urinary disorders. She performs a broad range of advanced procedures, including gastrointestinal endoscopy and foreign body removal, bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy, cystoscopy, arthrocentesis, bone marrow aspiration, and feeding tube placement. Dr. De Witte has a particular interest in advanced ultrasonography, including imaging of the abdomen, thorax, neck, and ocular structures, as well as ultrasound-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. She provides advanced ultrasound support for Internal Medicine and Emergency services, as well as outpatient referral patients.
Originally from Belgium and Mexico, Dr. De Witte has lived in the United States for more than 20 years, primarily in the Northeast, and now calls Westchester, New York, home. She is fluent in Spanish and French. Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and sports. At home, she shares life with her young daughter, Cassandra, their cat, Simone, and their dog, Birdie.
